THE SNAPDRAGON ROOM

The Snapdragon Room program is based on an emergent curriculum. This means that the staff do not start the year with a set curriculum, but allow the curriculum to grow and develop with the children. The staff member in the room works together with the children and take observations of their interests to help set the types of topics to be covered throughout the year. This successful program is based on three important philosophies:

Children learn by doing

Children learn when they have an interest in a topic rather than having it forced upon them

Children learn when they have reached a level of maturity and understanding that allows them to take in what you are teaching them .

The aim of the Snapdragon Room is to develop independent, social children that are keen to learn and explore. We want children who are able to work in small and large groups, become involved with discussions, and crave being challenged. An emergent curriculum does this and the development and blossoming of the children through the programs are testimony to this.
